The worldwide sales rights of the gay drama “Suk Suk” were received by Films Boutique on the eve of the film's world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival.
Director Ray Yeung ("Front Cover", "Boys with Cut Sleeves") is the story of "Suk Suk" about two elderly men who have spent their whole lives hiding their sexuality, but can look forward to a different future later in life. Yeung's screenwriter is inspired by a non-fiction book written by HK University professor Travis Kong.
The film's adaptation stars are Tai Bo ("Cabbie") and Ben Yuen ("Tracey"). Patra Ga Man Au, Kong To, Chun Yip Lo, co-star of Yiu Sing Lam.
"Sometimes you start watching a movie without expectations and suddenly something magical happens. "Suk Suk is one of those very rare films, a very moving love story backed by two outstanding acting productions," said Jean-Christophe Simon, CEO of Film & Boutique. "The film also has a strong political message of modernity about the current state of Hong Kong society."
The film will star in the Asian section of Asian cinema in Busan from Friday and is a contender for the prestigious Kim Jiseok Award. Earlier this week, it was revealed that "Suk Suk" had chosen five Golden Horse Award nominees, including one for the best picture.
It was produced and independently funded by New Voice Film Productions in Hong Kong. Producers will be Michael Michael Werner, Teresa Kwong, Sandy Yip and Chowee Leow. Yeung and Stanley Guingon are leading producers.
The film has a top level behind the camera crew. The camera work was compiled by Ming Kai Leung, the production was designed by Albert Poon and the editing consultations are supervised by & nbsp; William Suk Ping Chang.
Berlin-based Films Boutique is participating in Busan's Asian film market with additional titles, including: Ali Abbas's "Border"; Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego “Birds of Passage”; and Liberte, by Albert Serra.Mindy Kaling's "Never I I never ever" talks about the importance of representation
